The Most Important Days of the Year

by Brian Newman

The next few days (what is called Maundy Thursday, Good Friday, Black Saturday, and Easter Sunday) are the most astounding, universe-changing days of the year. Nothing compares.

What is so astounding is the mysterious Divine Drama that unfolded 2,000 years ago. Nobody could have written a script like this. The Jewish Hero-King who was ushered into Jerusalem retreats to a garden to plead for his life with God.

God does not save the savior's life. The drama plays out, in horrifying reality. Jesus is killed like a common criminal. Nailed to a cross for no crime at all. Darkness descends on the earth. The ultimate sacrifice is given.

And we wait. And wait. Waiting for the dawn of Easter morning. Sunshine, an empty tomb. LIFE has come to life again. Jesus is alive. And so are we.
