"Sorry If This Freaks You Out" by Brian Newman

Read John 6: 53-59

Questions written by Chris and Geneva Douville

Brian spoke of how God wants to dwell in you so that he consumes/engulfs you, and you in response consume/engulf him.  Brian described this as like two lovers consummating their love for each other.

1)  What is your reaction to this idea of God as a lover?  Why do you think you have this reaction?

2)  How have you experienced this all-consuming love of God?  What resulted from this experience?

3)  What keeps us from experiencing God's all-consuming love on a regular basis?

1) During the India trip testimony time, it was shared that a cab driver was superstitiously using a dirty red rag to separate himself from the aura of a dying man that he had just had in his car.  He did this while he was parked in front of Mother Theresa’s hospice and the temple for the god of death; and while a lady sitting in a nearby square was dying.  Because we come from a different culture we are able to see the irony of the man’s behavior.  As God looks down on us what blind spots does he see?  What are some of the blind spots he observes in our culture, our church and in our lives?  If we saw things from God's perspective, how might this impact the way we live?

2) Each day in India the children were picked up in the “happy bus.”  In this bus, it did not matter if you were clean, smart, rich or where you lived.  You were unconditionally welcomed into the bus, given a bath and provided clean clothes.  How are we as sinners similar to the children being welcomed into the “Happy Bus” of God’s love?

3) What impacted you the most about what was shared?

4) How is God speaking to you through what you heard during the India mission trip testimonies?
