‘olah is a Hebrew word for burnt offering. It reflects movement and a direction. It imagines the smoke of the offering rising upward onto the mountain of God and into His very presence. It speaks of an ascent. This is ‘olah for us a going-up-journey from our day-to-day existence, toils, frustrations, failures and struggles into the high presence of God Himself. |
